Last week went by so fast! On Tuesday I came home from class with a big package sitting on my bed!! My family sent me a valentine’s day package filled with some wonderful goodies! There were heart shaped doves, a few thin mint girl scout cookies J, some nail files and makeup, candy hearts of course, a beautiful watch, a handmade card and…a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch!! (which is already gone :/).

Thursday was a very exciting day… Andy came to visit! I had class from 9-2 and he arrived at the bus station in Segovia right at 2:15. It was one of the first rainy days here in Segovia, so that was unfortunate. I think Andy brought the Ireland weather with him for the weekend. On Thursday Dani invited us for lunch and we sat and talked with her for a while. She absolutely adored him because he reminded her of one of her sons. She kept stroking his face and calling him guapo (gorgeous or handsome).

After that we did some shopping and walked around, but it was still raining so we did not last too long. That night there was a talent and award show put on by my university at a club. I had bought Andy a ticket the week before because I had heard there was going to be sushi there and I knew he wouldn’t pass that up! Most of the girls and a few guys from my group went and it was pretty interesting. It was really fun to see how all the students interacted outside of school and since it’s a really small school they all know each other. There are people from all over the world and the language they talked in during the show was English because that is what most people have in common. IE (my school) is a private university, which is really prestigious and uncommon thing in Spain because they are much more expensive than the public universities. So many people come from all over to study and they are all so smart. I have met a few people who know over 6 languages! After the show we went to our favorite spot for Thursdays, Zircus. Where we just danced and hung out for a while.
| In the caves |
Friday was a much nicer day! I showed Andy around Segovia. Went on my favorite walk, which is a path that goes down to my school and then through a park and by the castle! When we reached the school I brought him in and showed him around a little bit. Then while on our walk we stopped and explored some caves that were off of the path! It was so much fun to get to show him my favorite things here! Later that day Andy came on the Friday excursion with my group. We went to a church called San Justo y Pastor and learned about the romantic architecture. Andy met my little brothers and got a warm welcome from Cocque…. he punched him right in the private! It was quite funny because he had the biggest smile on his face! Before dinner that night we got tapas and played cards with some other people. Andy could not believe how cheap it was to get a beer and have food come with it too! My family invited us over for dinner and this was the first time he met Marta and Jorge because they work so much. We had the traditional Spanish tortilla, jamón and some salad. That night was pretty low key, we ended up being really tired and going to bed pretty early.
| Churros! |
On Saturday we did some shopping and Andy bought a shirt from one of my favorite stores, Sfera. After that we were invited to eat lunch at Carmiña’s…with the extended family! I was really excited that he got to experience her food! We had her famous chicken noodle soup and some different kinds of meat and fish. Andy was able to practice some of his Spanish with Jorge’s sister and brother in law (Carmen and Pepe). It was also fun because Anna was there with us! We walked back and tried to plan our travels for the month of april but it didn’t go so well….its hard to plan flights and figure out where to go! Hopefully we can do that soon. Then we did some more shopping and stopped for a few tapas, as well as churros!! (they sell them in the street every Thursday!). After getting ready for the night, Andy brought his new big camera and we went and saw La Catedral and Alcazar at night. Andy took some great pictures that I will hopefully be able to post! We went out for dinner that night at a little place called Bon Apetit. The food was sooo amazing; I want to go back! Andy had a really yummy pasta with carbonara sauce and I had a salad. Then we both got dessert crepes! After that we met the group at the aqueduct and stayed out very late dancing the night away at a few different discotecas!
On Sunday we woke up and went to Madrid for the day. We went and got sushi at this amazing place. (My 4th time in one week) and after that we walked around that beautiful park, Retira, for a while. It was really hard to say goodbye to him, but we had such a fun weekend and I am so glad he got to see my life here in Spain!! J
